Sunderland Sail Trainee Programme - Activity 2

A tour and a talk at Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens that will incorporate a visit to the Port 300 exhibition that celebrates 300 years of the River Wear Commissioners and Port of Sunderland. Refreshments will be provided after the tour, providing an opportunity to chat to fellow sail trainees.


The exhibition tells the important and fascinating story of how Port of Sunderland developed into a major trading port following the creation of the River Wear Commissioners in 1717, and the economic and industrial success that followed.


Exhibits will include paintings and prints, maps, photographs, documents, objects and models from the Museum’s own extensive collections as well as a specially commissioned short film.
